The PMH Refugee Health Clinic aims to coordinate and manage the complex care needs of recently resettled refugee children under 16 years of age. If required, inpatient admission and consultation can be provided.

The Refugee Health Clinic is a holistic service with specialist medical staff, nurses, social workers, dieticians, dentists and school liaisons. The clinic aims to meet the medical, developmental, educational and psychosocial domains of refugee children and adolescents.

Please note the Refugee Health Service at PMH will be transitioning to Perth Children’s Hospital at the Queen Elizabeth II Medical Centre (QEIIMC) site; date to be confirmed in 2017

Child and Adolescent Community Health (CACH) Refugee Health Team

The Child and Adolescent Community Health (CACH) -Refugee Health Team assist newly arrived refugees and humanitarian entrants to transition and integrate into mainstream health care services.

Clinical Nurses in the Refugee Health Team act as advocates in empowering individuals and families to identify health concerns and direct families via referral processes to appropriate services. The CACH Refugee Health Team provide services across the Perth metropolitan areas to:

  • Children under the age of 18 years and their primary carers who have been referred from HEHS and the PMH Refugee Health Clinic
  • Other referrals for children under the age of 18 years as assessed on an individual basis.

Each family is offered an initial home visit by a Community health nurse to discuss:

  • Concerns and issues raised during the HEHS Assessment
  • Connection to a local GP service
  • Immunisation status and follow up
  • Dental Services
  • Optometry
  • Tertiary Health Services including referral for specialist care
  • Child Health & Child Development Services
  • Women’s Health Services
  • Mental Health (Torture &Trauma concerns )
  • Other identified health issues
